WHAT WE BELIEVE
STATEMENT OF FAITH
OUR BELIEFS
The Table Church is a new mission start of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS).
We believe the Bible is the Word of God and that when God speaks, we should listen. Period. The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God and the ultimate authority for faith and practice. Rooted in the teachings of Martin Luther and the Lutheran Reformation, we emphasize the central doctrines of the Christian faith, including justification by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, the priesthood of all believers, and the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

As a confessional congregation of the LCMS, we preach and teach the love of the Triune God:
-
the Father, creator of all that exists;
-
Jesus Christ, the Son who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and
-
the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God’s Word and Sacraments.
The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.

Our congregation accepts and teaches the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the Reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three short phrases: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone-
-
Grace Alone - God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him, and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly.
-
Faith Alone - Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers.
-
Scripture Alone - The Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole basis for Lutheran doctrine.
BAPTISM
We believe that baptism is a sacrament, instituted by Jesus (Matthew 28:19) using water and the Word. We believe that baptism is a means of grace – meaning that it gives life, forgives sins, and offers salvation.
Baptism is a gift - it is all about what God does, not about how good you are or how much you understand. You only need one baptism (as confessed in the Apostle’s Creed) – as long as it is properly administered with water and in the name of the Trinity… it counts!
If you've already been baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit - you don't need to do it again.

LORD'S SUPPER
At The Table, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday. We are reminded by the apostle Paul to examine ourselves before we participate in this sacrament (1 Corinthians 11:27-29). We believe that Christ’s true body and blood are offered in these elements of bread and wine, and that the participation in this meal unites all believers with the Real Presence of Christ and with one another - which is why it is called Communion (“come-in-union”).
We practice what is called 'close-communion' - All who share our beliefs and who come with repentant hearts are invited to join us. Those who have never communed with us before are asked to speak to the Pastor before this service. If you are not ready to participate in the Lords’ Supper with us, please feel free to come forward. Folding your arms will indicate to the Pastor your desire to receive a blessing.

AFFILIATION
The Table Church is a part of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), a denomination that confesses the historic, orthodox Christian faith, a faith built on “the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone” [Ephesians 2:20]
The LCMS, headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., is mission-oriented and Bible based. LCMS doctrine reflects the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther, as summarized in The Book of Concord: The Confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
